ATCAADFS20 - Australia Telescope Compact Array AKARI Deep Field South 20-cm Source Catalog |
HEASARC Archive |
The AKARI Deep Field South survey was primarily made in the far-infrared at wavelengths of 65, 90, 140, 160 micron (µm) over a 12 deg2 area with the AKARI Far-Infrared Surveyor (FIS) instrument, with shallower mid-infrared coverage at 9 and 18 um using the AKARI Infrared Camera (IRC) instrument. In addition to the wide survey, deeper mid-infrared pointed observations, using the IRC, covering ~0.8 deg2 and reaching 5-sigma sensitivities of 16, 16, 74, 132, 280 and 580 uJy at 3.2, 4.6, 7, 11, 15 and 24 um, respectively, were also carried out.
The radio observations were collected over a 13 day period in 2007 July using the ATCA operated at 1.344 and 1.432 GHz. The total integration time for the 2007 observations was 120 hours. The 2007 data were augmented with a further deep observation made in 2008 December over five nights towards a single pointing position at the ADF-S, which lay just off center of the larger ATCA-ADFS field reported here. This added a further 50 h of integration time. The data were processed in exactly the same way as that from the 2007 observing sessions.
Note that in the terminology of the authors, a radio component is described as a region of radio emission represented by a Gaussian shaped object in the map. Close radio doubles are represented by two Gaussians and are deemed to consist of two components, which make up a single source. A selection of radio sources with multiple components is shown in Fig. 3 of the reference paper.

Source_Number
A short form running sequence number for the component/source
in order of increasing J2000.0 Right Ascension.
Source_Flag
This flag parameter is set to 'A' to indicate that it is
believed to be part of a multi-component source, with more details about the
multi-component source being presented in Table 3 of the reference paper.
Name
The ATCA-ADFS source designation as recommended in the reference
paper, viz., 'ATCA-ADFS JHHMMSS+DDMMSS'. The HEASARC notes that this
nomenclature scheme does not appear to have been with the CDS Dictionary of
Nomenclature of Celestial Objects.
RA
The Right Ascension of the component referenced from the self-calibrated
reference frame and in the selected equinox. This was
given in J2000.0 equatorial coordinates to a precision of 0.1 seconds of time
in the original table.
Dec
The Declination of the component referenced from the self-calibrated
reference frame and in the selected equinox. This was
given in J2000.0 equatorial coordinates to a precision of 0.1 arcseconds
in the original table.
LII
The Galactic Longitude of the component.
BII
The Galactic Latitude of the component.
RA_Error
The uncertainty in the Right Ascension of the component, in arcseconds. The
positional accuracy listed is relative to the self-calibrated and
bootstrapped reference frame described in Section 3 of the referenced paper.
Other effects that bias the positions or sizes of sources in radio surveys
have already been presented in White et al. (2010, A&A, 517, A54, the catalog
from which is available at the HEASARC as the WSRT20ANEP table), to which the
reader is referred for more information.

Flux_20_cm
The peak flux density Speak of the radio source component at
20 cm, in mJy/beam.
Flux_20_cm_Error
The rms uncertainty in the peak flux density of the radio
source component at 20 cm, in mJy/beam.
Int_Flux_20_cm
The integrated (total) flux density Stotal of the radio
source component at 20 cm, in mJy.
Int_Flux_20_cm_Error
The rms uncertainty in the integrated (total) flux
density of the radio source component at 20 cm, in mJy.
Major_Axis
The size along the major axis of the fitted Gaussian component
profile (the major and minor axes refer to the full width at half-maximum
component size deconvolved from the synthesized beam), in arcseconds.
Component sizes are given only for the cases where Stotal/Speak >= 1.3,
as an indicator of a resolved component. Components where Stotal/Speak <
1.3 were considered to be unresolved, and therefore component sizes are not
individually reported for these here. All components were additionally checked
visually to mitigate against artifacts that might have slipped through the
various checks.
Minor_Axis
The size along the minor axis of the fitted Gaussian component
profile (the major and minor axes refer to the full width at half-maximum
component size deconvolved from the synthesized beam), in arcseconds.

Position_Angle
The position angle of the major axis of the fitted Gaussian
source profile measured east of north, in degrees.
