This table contains basic parameters on distances, velocities, metallicities, luminosities, colors, and dynamical parameters for over 150 objects that are regarded as globular clusters in the Milky Way galaxy.
Please acknowledge the use of this catalog in any published work you derive from it. The proper reference to the literature is the published paper (Harris, W.E. 1996, AJ, 112, 1487) which briefly describes the setup of the catalog. When you cite it in your text, please use "Harris 1996 (2010 edition)". The author would also greatly appreciate receiving any new information, in published or preprint form, which would help him to keep the list up to date (contact W. E. Name
The commonly used name of the globular cluster.
Alt_Name
An alternative commonly used name of the globular cluster.
RA
The Right Ascension of the center of the cluster in the specified equinox.
This was given in equinox 2000 and with varying precision in the originating
table. At present the center coordinates for the clusters are now uncertain
to typically 1-2 arcseconds, and better than 1" in a few cases that have
attracted especially intensive study.
Dec
The Declination of the center of the cluster in the specified equinox. This
was given in equinox 2000 and with varying precision in the originating

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the center of the cluster.
BII
The Galactic Latitude of the center of the cluster.
Helio_Distance
The distance of the cluster from the Sun, in kiloparsecs (kpc).
Galcen_Distance
The distance of the cluster from the Galactic Center, in kiloparsecs (kpc),
assuming that the distance of the Sun from the Galactic Center R0 is 8.0
kpc.
X_Distance
The distance component X in a Sun-centered coordinate system, in kiloparsecs
(kpc), where X points toward the Galactic center, Y points in the direction
of the Galactic rotation, and Z points towards the North Galactic Pole.
Y_Distance
The distance component Y in a Sun-centered coordinate system, in kiloparsecs
(kpc), where X points toward the Galactic center, Y points in the direction
of the Galactic rotation, and Z points towards the North Galactic Pole.
Z_Distance
The distance component Z in a Sun-centered coordinate system, in kiloparsecs
(kpc), where X points toward the Galactic center, Y points in the direction
of the Galactic rotation, and Z points towards the North Galactic Pole.
Metallicity
The cluster metallicity, [Fe/H], relative to the solar value.
Num_Metallicity_Measures
The 'weight' of the mean cluster metallicity, essentially the number of
independent [Fe/H] measurements averaged together for the quoted value. See

Reddening
The foreground reddening, E(B-V), in the direction of the globular cluster,
in magnitudes.
HB_Vmag
The V magnitude level of the cluster horizontal branch (or of the cluster's
RR Lyrae variables).
App_Distance_Mod
The apparent visual distance modulus, (m-M)V, of the cluster, in
magnitudes.
Vmag
The integrated V magnitude of the cluster, Vt.
Abs_Vmag
The absolute visual magnitude (cluster luminosity) of the cluster, M(V,t) =
Vt -(m-M)V.
UB_Color
The integrated U-B color index of the cluster (uncorrected for reddening).
BV_Color
The integrated B-V color index of the cluster (uncorrected for reddening).
VR_Color
The integrated V-R color index of the cluster (uncorrected for reddening).
VI_Color
The integrated V-I color index of the cluster (uncorrected for reddening).
Spect_Type
The spectral type of the integrated cluster light..
Ellipticity
The projected ellipticity or eccentricity of the cluster e = (1 - b/a), where
a and b are the semi-major and semi-minor axes of the cluster light profile,
respectively. This parameter is a measure of the projected shape of the
cluster.
Radial_Velocity
The heliocentric radial velocity of the cluster, in km/s.
Radial_Velocity_Error
The observational (internal) uncertainty in the radial velocity of the
cluster, in km/s.
LSR_Radial_Velocity
The radial velocity of the cluster relative to the Solar Local Standard of
Rest, in km/s.
Central_Sigma_V
The central velocity dispersion of the cluster, sigmav, in km/s. The
velocity dispersion as quoted in the catalog is the estimated central value
(at or near r = 0), sometimes relying on small model extrapolations from
velocity or proper motion data within the cluster core, or in the best cases
from the complete velocity dispersion profile.
Central_Sigma_V_Error
The observational (internal) uncertainty in the central velocity dispersion,
in km/s.
Central_Concentration
The King model central concentration, c = log(rt / rc), of the cluster,
where rt is the tidal radius of the cluster and rc is the core radius of
the cluster.
Core_Collapse_Flag
A flag that is set to 'c' to denote a likely core-collapsed cluster or to
'c:' to denote a possible core-collapsed cluster.
Core_Radius
The core radius rc of the cluster, in arcminutes.
Half_Light_Radius
The half-light radius of the cluster, in arcminutes.
Cent_Surf_Brightness
The central surface brightness of the cluster, in V magnitudes per square
arcsecond.
Log_Lum_Density
The logarithm (base 10) of the central luminosity density of the cluster, in
units of Solar luminosities per cubic parsec (Lsun / pc3).
Log_Core_Relaxtime
The logarithm (base 10) of the core relaxation time of the cluster, in years.
Log_HMR_Relaxtime
The logarithm (base 10) of the median relaxation time (the value at the
half-light radius) of the cluster, in years.
Class
The HEASARC Browse object classification. All objects in this catalog have
been given the (same) class, globular cluster.
