LMCXRAY - LMC X-Ray Discrete Sources |
HEASARC Archive |
Name
The name is derived from the numeric designation given in the original
reference and the prefix "LMC".
RA
The Right Ascension in sexagesimal units.
Dec
The Declination in sexagesimal units.
LII
The galactic longitude in degrees.
BII
The galactic latitude in degrees.
RA_B1950
Right Ascension in B1950 Equinox
Dec_B1950
Declination in B1950 Equinox
Count_Rate
The count rate in counts/s in the IPC broad-band of 0.16 to 3.5 keV.
Count_Rate_Error
The count rate error in counts/sec.
Hardness_Ratio
The spectral hardness ratio, defined as [CR(hard)-CR(soft)]/CR(broad)
where CR(hard) is the count rate in the 0.8 to 3.5 keV band, CR(soft)
is the count rate in the 0.16 to 0.8 keV band, and CR(broad) is the
count rate in the 0.16 to 3.5 keV band (i.e., the tabulated count rate).
SNR
The signal-to-noise ratio.
Source_Type
A source-class identifier code:
1 = supernova remnant 2 = LMC binary system 3 = OB Association, H II filament, etc. 4 = no identification 5 = foreground galactic star 6 = background AGN
Alt_Name
An alternate designation for sources that were tabulated in the Long,
Helfand, and Grabelsky (1981, ApJ, 248, 925) list of LMC X-ray sources.
Ext_Flag
A flag to indicate whether the source is compact, i.e., less than about 2.5'
in diameter ('Y'), or of large angular diameter, i.e., of several arc minutes
in diameter ('N').
Comments
Various comments and annotations concerning the X-ray properties and/or
optical and radio identifications of the sources. Unless otherwise noted
as "(LMC)", all stellar type designations (e.g., G2 V) refer to foreground
galactic stars. "HRI" implies a detection with the Einstein High Resolution
Imager, while "v" implies multiple IPC or IPC + HRI pointings suggesting
the source is variable.
Class
BROWSE classification type. The classification is based on the Source Type
parameter.
