Source_Number
The source number, in order of increasing J2000.0 Right
Ascension, which uniquely identifies each source in this catalog.
Name
The designated (2nd) MAXI 37-month catalog source name, based on its
best-fit J2000.0 position and the '2MAXI' prefix for 2nd MAXI catalog,
e.g., '2MAXI JHHMM+DDd'. The designation 'MAXI JHHMM+DDd' was used for sources
in the (1st) MAXI 7-month catalog.
RA
The best-fit Right Ascension of the MAXI source in the selected equinox.
This was given in J2000.0 decimal degree coordinates to a precision of 0.1
degrees in the original table.
Dec
The best-fit Declination of the MAXI source in the selected equinox.
This was given in J2000.0 decimal degree coordinates to a precision of 0.1
degrees in the original table.
LII
The Galactic Longitude of the MAXI source.
BII
The Galactic Latitude of the MAXI source.
Error_Radius_Limit
This flag parameter is set to '<' if the corresponding
parameter value is an upper limit.
Error_Radius
The 1-sigma statistical position error of the MAXI source, in
arcseconds. This was converted by the HEASARC from the degrees units given in
the original table. There exists an additional systematic error of ~ 0.09
degrees = 324 arcseconds (90%). See Section 4.4 of the reference paper for
more details.
HB_Significance
The detection significance (number of sigma) of the MAXI
GSC source in the 4-10 keV band.
HB_Flux
The MAXI/GSC flux in the 4-10 keV band, in erg s-1 cm-2,
calculated from Crab units (1 mCrab = 1.21 x 10-11 erg s-1 cm-2),
assuming a Crab-like spectrum.
HB_Flux_Error
The 1-sigma statistical error in the MAXI/GSC source flux in
the 4-10 keV band, in erg s-1 cm-2.
SB_Significance
The detection significance (number of sigma) of the MAXI
GSC source in the 3-4 keV band.
SB_Flux
The MAXI/GSC flux in the 3-4 keV band, in erg s-1 cm-2,
calculated from Crab units (1 mCrab = 3.98 x 10-12 erg s-1 cm-2),
assuming a Crab-like spectrum.
SB_Flux_Error
The 1-sigma statistical error in the MAXI/GSC source flux in
the 3-4 keV band, in erg s-1 cm-2.
Hardness_Ratio
The hardness ratio HR = (H-S)/(H+S), where H and S represent
the observed fluxes in the 4-10 keV and 3-4 keV bands, respectively.
Hardness_Ratio_Error
The 1-sigma error in the hardness ratio HR.
The error in HR is calculated by simple propagation of errors in H and S; both
can be regarded as symmetric errors.
GSC7_Source_Number
The counterpart source number in the 1st MAXI/GSC
7-month catalog (GSC7).
Ctrpart_Name
The name of the counterpart to the MAXI/GSC source.
RA_Ctrpart
The Right Ascension of the counterpart to the MAXI/GSC source in
the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 decimal degree coordinates to
a precision of 10-3 degrees (3.6 arcseconds) in the original table.
Dec_Ctrpart
The Declination of the counterpart to the MAXI/GSC source in
the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 decimal degree coordinates to
a precision of 10-3 degrees (3.6 arcseconds) in the original table.
Ctrpart_Flags
This cross-matching flag parameter contains codes ('B', M',
and 'G') indicating that the source has more one or more counterparts in the
BAT70 (Swift/BAT Hard X-Ray (14-195 keV) All-Sky Survey 70-Month Catalog;
Baumgartner et al. 2013, ApJS, 207, 19), MCXC (the Meta-Catalog of X-Ray
Detected Clusters of Galaxies; Piffaretti et al. 2011, A&A, 534, A109)
and/or GSC7 (1st MAXI/GSC Catalog; Hiroi et al. 2011, PASJ, 63, 677)
catalogs, respectively. The counterpart name listed in the ctrpart_name
parameter is quoted from the catalog expressed by the leftmost letter in this
parameter field.
Source_Flag
This flag parameter contains codes indicating the presence
of a note concerning specific sources, coded as follows:
A= The authors changed the counterpart name from SWIFT J0042.7+4111 to M31 taking into account the angular resolution of MAXI/GSC. B= RXC J0105.5-2439 is another counterpart of this source. C= The authors changed the counterpart name from NGC 1275 to Perseus Cluster taking into account the angular resolution of MAXI/GSC. D= The authors changed the counterpart name from CXO J051406.4-400238 to NGC 1851 taking into account the angular resolution of MAXI/GSC. E= Since MAXI J0957+693 is a confused source consisting of M81, M82, and 1RXS J095755.0+690310, the authors used the position determined by the MAXI/GSC 7-month survey for the cross-matching. F= Since the position accuracy of 3EG J1627-2419, the counterpart of MAXI J0957+693, is low, the authors used the position determined by the MAXI/GSC 7-month survey for the cross-matching. G= ESO 139-G 012 is another counterpart of this source. H= ABELL 2572b is another counterpart of this source.
Redshift
The redshift of the source given only for extragalactic objects.
Object_Type
The object type classification of the source, using the
following abbreviations:
Sy = Seyfert galaxy; LMXB = low-mass X-ray binary; HMXB = high-mass X-ray binary; XRB = X-ray binary; Symb = symbiotic star; NS = neutron star; BH(C) = black hole (candidate); CV = cataclysmic variable; ULX = ultra-luminous X-ray source; msPSR = millisecond pulsar; WD = white dwarf; FSRQ = flat-spectrum radio quasar.
Class
The HEASARC Browse object classification, based on the value of
the object_type parameter.
