SAXWFCCAT - BeppoSAX Wide Field Camera X-Ray Source Catalog |
HEASARC Archive |
A systematic analysis of all WFC observations in the BeppoSAX archive has been carried out using the latest post-mission release of the WFC analysis software and calibrations. The catalog includes 253 distinct sources, obtained from a total sample of 8253 WFC detections.

Name
The recommended designation for the X-ray source, using the prefix
'SAXWFC J' (for BeppoSAX, Wide Field Camers) and the truncated J2000
coordinates of the source, e.g., 'SAXWFC JHHMMm+DDMM.m'.
Source_Flag
This flag parameter indicates one of the following detection
notes:
h = detected with the highest SNR in a softer band, 2 - 5.5 or 2 - 3.2 keV with respect to the catalogue reference 2 - 8 keV band i = detected with the highest SNR in a harder band, 8 - 19, 5.5 - 11, 6 - 13 or 11 - 19 keV with respect to the catalogue reference 2 - 8 keV band j = detected with the highest SNR in a wider band, 2 - 19 or 2 - 26 keV band, with respect to the catalogue reference 2 - 8 keV band k = source detected in the first processing stage only
RA
The Right Ascension of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This
was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 0.1 seconds of time in the
original table.
Dec
The Declination of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This was
given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 0.1 arcseconds in the original
table.
LII
The Galactic Longitude of the X-ray source.
BII
The Galactic Latitude of the X-ray source.
Error_Radius
The position error of the X-ray source, in arcseconds (this
was converted by the HEASARC from the original arcminutes units). This is
the mean 99% confidence level error in X and Y error added in quadrature to
a systematic error of 78 arcseconds (1.3 arcminutes).
High_SNR_Exposure
The net exposure time on the X-ray source, in seconds
(this was converted by the HEASARC from the original kiloseconds units),
for the detection with the maximum SNR.
High_SNR_Flux
The unabsorbed 2 - 10 keV flux of the X-ray source. in
erg/s/cm2, for the detection with the maximum SNR.
High_SNR_Flux_Error
The error in the unabsorbed 2 - 10 keV flux of the
X-ray source. in erg/s/cm2, for the detection with the maximum SNR.
SB_SNR
The detection signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the 2 - 8 keV band.
HB_SNR
The detection signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the 8 - 19 keV band.
Number_Detections
The number of detections of the X-ray source.
Exposure
The total exposure time on the X-ray source, in seconds (this
was converted by the HEASARC from the original kiloseconds units).
Flux
The flux-weighted mean of the unabsorbed 2 - 10 keV flux among all
the detections of the X-ray source, in units of erg/s/cm2.
Flux_Error
The standard deviation of the flux-weighted mean of the
unabsorbed 2 - 10 keV flux among all the detections of the X-ray source,
in units of erg/s/cm2.
Reduced_Chi_Squared
The reduced chi-squared of the X-ray source detections
in the 2 - 10 keV band. The HEASARC believes that is the value obtained from
fitting the observed values with a constant source model, i.e., higher values
(>> 1) are an indication that the source is variable.
Max_Flux
The maximum unabsorbed 2 - 10 keV flux of the X-ray source among
all the source detections, in erg/s/cm2.
Min_Flux
The minimum unabsorbed 2 - 10 keV flux of the X-ray source among
all the source detections, in erg/s/cm2,
Alt_Name
The identification of the WFC source obtained from comparison
with public databases.
Source_Type
The source classification using the following abbreviations:
AGN = active galactic nucleus AM Her = AM Her type star AXP = anomalous X-ray pulsar B = burster Be = B-emission star BH = black hole BY Dra = BY Dra type star ClG = cluster of galaxies CV = cataclysmic variable D = dipper DN = dwarf nova E = intermediate objects GlC = in globular cluster IP = intermediate polar HMXRB = high-mass X-ray binary LBV = luminous blue variable type star LMXRB = low-mass X-ray binary P = polar QSO = quasar RG = radio galaxy RP = radio pulsar RSCVn = RS CVn type star Seyfert 1 = Seyfert galaxy type 1 Seyfert 2 = Seyfert galaxy type 2 SNR = Supernova remnant Sy = Symbiotic star T = transient source U Gem = U Gem type star WD = White dwarf XB = X-ray binary XP = X-ray pulsar
Class
The HEASARC Browse object classification for the source based on the
value of the source_type parameter.
