Name
The name of the Shakhbazian compact group of galaxies as constructed
from the sequence number (listed in the original references and in the
originating CDS Catalog) combined with the prefix `SHK' which is recommended
by the Dictionary of Astronomical Nomenclature.
Alt_Name
Alternate name
RA
The right ascension of the compact group of galaxies. Notice that the
co-ordinates in the original input tables were in equinox J1950, and were
given to a precision of either 0.1 minutes of time (Shk 1 - 260 and 338 -
362) or 1 second of time (Shk 261 - 337 and 363 - 377).
Dec
The declination of the compact group of galaxies. Notice that the
co-ordinates in the original input tables were in equinox J1950, and were
given to a precision of either 1 arcminute (Shk 1 - 305 and 363 - 377),
0.1 arcminutes (Shk 338 - 362), or 1 arcsecond (Shk 306 - 337).
LII
The galactic longitude of the compact group of galaxies.
BII
The galactic latitude of the compact group of galaxies.
Number_Galaxies
The number of galaxies in the compact group: in the
published lists, this number was frequently stated as a range, notice,
and these ranges were apparently converted (by the authors) to their median
values when the machine-readable version was created.
Brightest_Rmag
The approximate red magnitude of the brightest galaxy in
the compact group. This information is provided for only about one-third
of the entries in this catalog, and is given to a precision apparently
ranging between 0.1 and 0.5 magnitudes.
Angular_Size
The angular size of the compact group in arcminutes.
Compactness
The coefficient of relative compactness of the group of
galaxies: this coefficient is the ratio of the sum of the diameters of
all the galaxies of the group to the diameter of the group as a whole.
Note that this coefficient is rounded compared to the publications
for objects 306 to 377.
Class
The HEASARC browse classification, based on the value of the
object_type parameter, and set to `cluster of galaxies' for all entries
in this catalog.
