Overview

This table contains the X-ray source catalog in the Subaru/XMM-Newton Deep Survey (SXDS). A continuous area of 1.14 deg2 centered at R.A.= 02h 18m and Dec =- 05 degrees is mapped by seven pointings with XMM-Newton covering the 0.2 - 10 keV band. From the combined images of the EPIC pn and MOS cameras, the authors have detected 866, 1114, 645, and 136 sources with sensitivity limits of 6 x 10-16, 8 x 10-16, 3 x 10-15, and 5 x 10-15 ergs cm-2 s-1 in the 0.5 - 2, 0.5 - 4.5, 2 - 10, and 4.5 - 10 keV bands, respectively, with detection likelihood >=7 (corresponding to a confidence level of 99.91%). The catalog consists of 1245 sources in total, including 32 extended-source candidates. The averaged log N-log S relations are in good agreement with previous results, bridging the flux range between Chandra deep surveys and brighter surveys. The log N-log S relations show significant spatial variation among pointings on a scale of 0.2 deg2. Analyzing the autocorrelation function, the authors detect significant clustering signals from the 0.5 - 2 keV band sample, which can be fit with a power-law form (theta/thetac)(-0.8) with a correlation length of thetac of 5.9 (+1.0, -0.9) arcsec when the integral constraint term is included. In the 2 - 10 keV band, however, the clustering is not significant, with a 90% upper limit of thetac < 1.5 arcsec.

Provenance

This table was created by the HEASARC in November 2008 based on an electronic version of Table 2 of the reference paper obtained from the Astrophysical Journal website.

Parameters

Source_Number
The SXDS source number, a running number in order of increasing J2000.0 right ascension which uniquely identifies the X-ray source.

Name
The name of the X-ray source in the style recommended by the Dictionary of Nomenclature of Celestial Objects, using the '[UWS2008] ' prefix (for Ueda, Watson, Stewart, 2008) and the X-ray source number. The HEASARC created these names, notice, as of the table creation date, in anticipation of action by the CDS.

RA
The Right Ascension of the X-ray source as determined by XMM-Newton, in the selected equinox. This was given to 10-5 degrees (0.036 arcsec) of precision and in the J2000.0 equinox in the original table.

Dec
The Declination of the X-ray source as determined by XMM-Newton, in the selected equinox. This was given to 10-5 degrees (0.036 arcsec) of precision and in the J2000.0 equinox in the original table.

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the X-ray source.

BII
The Galactic Latitude of the X-ray source.

Error_Radius
The statistical error in the position of the X-ray source, in arcseconds, estimated through the maximum likelihood fit (the root sum square of the 1-sigma error in each direction).

USB_Detect_Likelihood
The maximum likelihood of the X-ray source detection in the ultra-soft (0.3 -0.5 keV) band.

SB_Detect_Likelihood
The maximum likelihood of the X-ray source detection in the soft (0.5 - 2 keV) band.

MB_Detect_Likelihood
The maximum likelihood of the X-ray source detection in the medium (2 - 4.5 keV) band.

UHB_Detect_Likelihood
The maximum likelihood of the X-ray source detection in the ultra-hard (4.5 - 10 keV) band.

XID_Detect_Likelihood
The maximum likelihood of the X-ray source detection in the XID (0.5 - 4.5 keV) band.

HB_Detect_Likelihood
The maximum likelihood of the X-ray source detection in the hard (2 - 10 keV) band.

USB_Count_Rate
The vignetting-corrected count rate US of the X-ray source in the ultra-soft (0.3 - 0.5 keV) band, in ct/s.

USB_Count_Rate_Error
The 1-sigma uncertainty in the ultra-soft (0.3 - 0.5 keV) band count rate, in ct/s.

SB_Count_Rate
The vignetting-corrected count rate S of the X-ray source in the soft (0.5 - 2 keV) band, in ct/s.

SB_Count_Rate_Error
The 1-sigma uncertainty in the soft (0.5 - 2 keV) band count rate, in ct/s.

MB_Count_Rate
The vignetting-corrected count rate M of the X-ray source in the medium (2 - 4.5 keV) band count rate, in ct/s.

MB_Count_Rate_Error
The 1-sigma uncertainty in the medium (2 - 4.5 keV) band count rate, in ct/s.

UHB_Count_Rate
The vignetting-corrected count rate UH of the X-ray source in the ultra-hard (4.5 - 10 keV) band count rate, in ct/s.

UHB_Count_Rate_Error
The 1-sigma uncertainty in the ultra-hard (4.5 - 10 keV) band count rate (ct/s)

Hardness_Ratio_1
The hardness ratio HR1, defined as (S-US)/(S+US), where S and US are the soft and ultra-soft band count rates, respectively.

Hardness_Ratio_1_Error
The 1-sigma uncertainty in the hardness ratio HR1.

Hardness_Ratio_2
The hardness ratio HR2, defined as (M-S)/(M+S), where M and S are the medium and soft band count rates, respectively.

Hardness_Ratio_2_Error
The 1-sigma uncertainty in the hardness ratio HR2.

Hardness_Ratio_3
The hardness ratio HR3, defined as (UH-M)/(UH+M), where UH and M are the ultra-hard and medium band count rates, respectively.

Hardness_Ratio_3_Error
The 1-sigma uncertainty in the hardness ratio HR3.

Pointing_ID
The SXDS pointing ID in which the X-ray source was detected. The properties of these pointings are listed in Table 1 of the reference paper.

Off_Axis
The offset angle, in arcminutes, of the X-ray source from the mean optical axis of the corresponding pointing.

Exposure
The total pn-equivalent exposure for the X-ray source, i.e., the sum of pn, MOS1, and MOS2, at the source position, corrected for the vignetting in the 0.5 - 4.5 keV XID band, in seconds (s). The exposure is averaged over the source extraction region with a fixed encircled energy fraction (68%) of the PSF.

XID_Background_Rate
The background count rate in the 0.5 - 4.5 keV band at the source position, in ct/s/arcsec2. The background rate is averaged over the source extraction region with a fixed encircled energy fraction (68%) of the PSF.

Source_Flag
This flag parameter is set to 'C' if the flux is determined by a multiple-source fit in order to take into account possible source confusion with nearby sources (see Section 3.2.3 of the reference paper).
