XMMLSSDEEP - XMM-Newton Large-Scale Structure Deep Full-Exposure X-Ray Source Catalog |
HEASARC Archive |
The authors provide X-ray source lists in the customary soft and hard energy bands (0.5-2 keV and 2-10 keV, respectively) for a total of 6721 objects in the deep full-exposure 2XLSSd catalog presented in this table, and 5572 objects in the catalog limited to 10 ks exposures (available at the HEASARC as the XMMLSS10KS table), above a detection likelihood of 15 in at least one band. At the XMMLSS web site which they maintain (http://cosmosdb.iasf-milano.inaf.it/XMM-LSS/), the authors also provide a multiwavelength catalog, cross-correlating their list of X-ray sources with infrared, near-infrared, optical and ultraviolet catalogs. Customary data products, such as X-ray FITS images and thumbnail images from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Legacy Survey and the Spitzer Wide-Area Infrared Extragalactic Survey, are made available there, together with their data base in Milan, which can be queried interactively.
In this table, the authors provide the source list for the full area (11.1 square degrees) of the XMM-LSS, with a total of 6721 point-like or extended sources above a detection likelihood of 15 in either the 0.5-2 or 2-10 keV bands. This table, the 2XLSSd "deep catalog" version containing the result of the analysis of the full-length exposures, lists the main X-ray parameters, while further multiwavelength parameters and data products (X-ray images and optical/IR thumbnails) are available at the Milan XMM-LSS database site referenced above. It supersedes the first XMM-LSS version (Pierre et al. 2007, available at the HEASARC as the XMMLSS table).
Analogously to Paper I, only sources with an off-axis angle < 13 arcmin were processed by the authors' X-ray data processing pipeline software, XAMIN. The catalog includes all the extended sources classified in the customary C1 and C2 classes (see Section 3.6 of Paper II) plus all point-like sources with a point source detection likelihood (DET_LH) greater than 15 (so-called non-spurious sources).

Source_Number
A unique internal sequence number for each merged X-ray
source in the 2XLSSd Catalog wherein it is called Xseq.
Name
The preferred catalog X-ray source designation ('2XLSSd JHHMMSS.s+DDMMSSa')
using the 2XLSSd prefix, the 'official', i.e., best-band, J2000.0 position of
the X-ray source deduced after the rigid astrometric correction, and (in a
very few cases) an a/b suffix. The letter suffix is used when the band
merging is ambiguous and one 0.5-2keV band source may have two different hard
band counterparts, or vice versa. The naming procedures used for the 2XLSSd
X-ray sources are extensively discussed in Section 3.5 of the reference
paper.
RA
The Right Ascension of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This is the
'official', i.e., best-band, position of the X-ray source deduced after the
rigid astrometric correction. It was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a
precision of 10-5 degrees (0.036 arcseconds) in the original table. The
X-ray positions were obtained using XAMIN, a maximum-likelihood
profile-fitting procedure, using either pnt, a point source PSF, or ext, an
extended source model assuming a beta-profile with a constant slope of 2/3,
according to the classification of the source in the best band (the
extended_source_class parameter).
Dec
The Declination of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This is the
'official', i.e., best-band, position of the X-ray source deduced after the
rigid astrometric correction.
LII
The Galactic Longitude of the X-ray source.
BII
The Galactic Latitude of the X-ray source.
SB_Source_Number
A unique internal sequence number for each soft-band
(0.5 - 2.0 keV) X-ray source in the 2XLSSd Catalog wherein it is called Bseq.
If a source is not detected in this band, this field is left blank.
SB_Name
The recommended name for the soft-band X-ray source, using the
unofficial prefix 2XLSSB and the format recommended by the CDS Dictionary of
Nomenclature of Celestial Objects for J2000.0 positional-based names, viz.,
`2XLSSB JHHMMSS.s+DDMMSS'. However, as in Paper I, the coordinates used in the
name correspond to the extended (E) or point-like (P) fit in the relevant band.
Extended_Source_Class
The soft-band (0.5 - 2.0 keV) source extension
classification flag of the X-ray source. This so-called C1/C2 classification
flag (discussed in more detail in Section 3.6 of the reference paper II ) is
set for candidate clusters according to Pacaud et al. (2006MNRAS.372..578P)
and assumes the following values:
1 = object classified as C1 cluster candidate in the 0.5 - 2 keV band 2 = object classified as C2 cluster candidate in the 0.5 - 2 keV band 0 = undefined in any other caseExtended sources are selected from the XAMIN parameter space as detections with extent > 5 arcsec and likelihood of extent > 15. They are further divided into two classes: C1 with likelihood of extent > 33 and likelihood of detection > 32, which is almost uncontaminated by misclassified point sources, and C2 (the rest), allowing for ~ 50 per cent contamination.
SB_Core_Radius
The core radius of the beta-model derived from ext for the
X-ray source in the soft band, in arcseconds. When the extended source fit
failed, this parameter is left blank.
SB_Extent_Likelihood
The extension likelihood EXT_LH of the X-ray source in
the soft band. When the extended source fit failed, this parameter is left
blank.
SB_Detect_Likelihood
The detection likelihood DET_LH of the X-ray source in
the soft band. When the extended source fit failed, this parameter is left
blank.
SB_Off_Axis
The off-axis angle of the soft-band X-ray source from the
nominal field pointing direction, in arcminutes.
SB_RA

selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of
10-5 degrees (0.036 arcseconds) in the original table.
SB_Error_Radius
The positional error of the X-ray source in the soft
(0.5 - 2 keV) band, in arcseconds, computed from the count rate and off-axis

count rates using the conversion factor given in Table 3 of Paper II.
The flux is left blank when undefined for any reason, in

unofficial prefix 2XLSSCD and the format recommended by the CDS Dictionary of
