Overview

This table contains results from the analysis of a sample of 383 X-ray selected galaxy groups and clusters with spectroscopic redshift measurements (up to z ~ 0.79) from the 2XMMi/SDSS Galaxy Cluster Survey. The X-ray cluster candidates were selected as serendipitously detected sources from the 2XMMi-DR3 catalog that were located in the footprint of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-DR7). The cluster galaxies with available spectroscopic redshifts were selected from the SDSS-DR10. The authors developed an algorithm for identifying the cluster candidates that are associated with spectroscopically targeted luminous red galaxies and for constraining the cluster spectroscopic redshift. A cross-correlation of the constructed cluster sample with published optically selected cluster catalogs yielded 264 systems with available redshifts. The present redshift measurements (presented in reference paper III) are consistent with the published values. The current cluster sample extends the optically confirmed cluster sample from the authors' cluster survey by 67 objects. Moreover, it provides spectroscopic confirmation for 78 clusters among their published cluster sample, which previously had only photometric redshifts. Of the new cluster sample that comprises 67 systems, 55 objects are newly X-ray discovered clusters and 52 systems are sources newly discovered as galaxy clusters in optical and X-ray wavelengths. Based on the measured redshifts and the fluxes given in the 2XMMi-DR3 catalogue, the authors have estimated the X-ray luminosities and masses of the cluster sample.

This table contains 145 entries, 67 of which are new (as of Paper III) optically confirmed clusters (marked by values of ref_source = 'Paper III') and 78 of which are clusters from Paper II which have now been spectroscopically confirmed (marked by values of ref_source = 'Paper II'). The tabular information on the 530 clusters that was presented in Paper II of this set of papers is available as the HEASARC XMMSDSSGCS table).

The following parameters were obtained from the current optical-band cluster detection algorithm: sdss_dr10_bcg_id, sdss_dr10_bcg_ra, sdss_dr10_bcg_dec, bcg_rmag, redshift, num_spect_members, phot_redshift, num_phot_members, and spatial_offset.

Provenance

This table was created by the HEASARC in July 2014 based on CDS catalog J/A+A/564/A54 file table1.dat.

Parameters

DetID
A number which uniquely identifies each entry (i.e., detection) in the 2XMMi-DR3 Catalog.

Name
The 2XMMi-DR3 Catalog name. This IAU-style designation was assigned to each unique SRCID in the catalog based upon the IAU registered classifications 2XMM and 2XMMi: a source that is included in the 2XMM catalog has kept its 2XMM IAU identification; a source that appeared for the first time in 2XMMi retains its 2XMMi IAU identification; all new sources in 2XMMi-DR3 are also assigned an IAU name with a 2XMMi prefix. The form of the IAU names is "2XMM Jhhmmss.sSddmmss" or "2XMMi Jhhmmss.sSddmmss" where hhmmss.s is taken from the averaged and eposcorr-corrected right ascension coordinate given in the column RA and Sddmmss is the averaged and eposcorr-corrected declination taken from the column DEC of the respective catalog. Note that the averaged coordinates may have changed with respect to 2XMM but the IAU name with the 2XMM prefix will be the same as in the 2XMM catalog. The situation is similar for sources in the 2XMMi catalog where the 2XMMi-prefixed IAU name is maintained.

Alt_Name
An alternative name for the cluster of galaxies, if it had been previously identified, using NED.

RA
The Right Ascension of the X-ray source detection in the selected equinox. This was taken from the 2XMMi-DR3 Catalog (q.v. for more details), and was given in J2000.0 decimal degrees in the CDS version of this table with a precision of 10-5 degrees.

Dec
The Declination of the X-ray source detection in the selected equinox. This was taken from the 2XMMi-DR3 Catalog (q.v. for more details), and was given in J2000.0 decimal degrees in the CDS version of this table with a precision of 10-5 degrees.

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the X-ray source detection.

BII
The Galactic Latitude of the X-ray source detection.

ObsID
The XMM-Newton 'obsid' identifier for the observation in which the source was detected.

Redshift
The spectroscopic redshift z of the galaxy cluster.

Linear_Scale_Factor
The linear scale factor in kpc/arcsecond at the cluster redshift.

Radius_500
The estimated radius R500 at which the mean mass density of the cluster is 500 times the critical density rhoc of the Universe at the cluster redshift, in kpc. Thus, R500 = cube root of [(3 * M500)/(4pi * 500 * rhoc(z)]. See Section 4 of the 2011 reference paper (Paper I) for more details.

Cat_Flux
The X-ray flux of the cluster in the 0.5 - 2 keV band, in erg cm-2 s-1^, as listed in the 2XMMi-DR3 Catalog.

Cat_Flux_Error
The error in the catalogued X-fay flux of the cluster in the 0.5 - 2 keV band, in erg cm-2 s-1^, as listed in the 2XMMi-DR3 Catalog.

Cat_Lx
The X-ray luminosity of the cluster in the 0.5 - 2 keV band, in erg s-1, based on the 2XMMi-DR3 flux and the adopted redshift.

Cat_Lx_Error
The error in the X-ray luminosity of the cluster in the 0.5 - 2 keV band, in erg s-1, based on the 2XMMi-DR3 flux and the adopted redshift.

Lx_500
The X-ray bolometric luminosity of the cluster over the rest-frame energy range 0.1 to 50 keV and within the R500 radius, L500, in erg s-1. The estimation of this parameter is discussed in Section 3 of the 2013 reference paper (Paper II) and in Section 4 of the 2014 reference paper (Paper III).

Lx_500_Error
The error in the X-ray bolometric luminosity of the cluster over the rest-frame energy range 0.1 to 50 keV and within the R500 radius, L500, in erg s-1.

Mass_500
The mass of the cluster within the R500 radius, M500, in solar masses. The estimated bolometric L500 was used to compute the X-ray luminosity-based mass using the L500 M500 relation published by Pratt et al. (2009, A&A, 498, 361) and given in equation (2) of Paper III.

Mass_500_Error
The error in the mass of the cluster within the R500 radius, M500, in solar masses.

SDSS_Dr10_BCG_ID
The object identification number ('ObjID') of the likely brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) in the cluster as listed in the SDSS-DR10.

SDSS_Dr10_BCG_RA
The Right Ascension in the selected equinox of the likely BCG in the cluster as obtained from the SDSS-DR10. This was given in J2000.0 decimal degrees in the CDS version of this table with a precision of 10-5 degrees.

SDSS_Dr10_BCG_Dec
The Declination in the selected equinox of the likely BCG in the cluster as obtained from the SDSS-DR10. This was given in J2000.0 decimal degrees in the CDS version of this table with a precision of 10-5 degrees.

The weighted average photometric redshift, zphot, of the identified cluster member candidates.

Num_Phot_Members
The number of cluster galaxies within the central 500 kpc of the cluster with available photometric redshifts that were used to compute the cluster spectroscopic redshift.

Spatial_Offset
The linear offset, in kpc, between the cluster X-ray position and the BCG optical position.

Ref_Source
This parameter is set to 'Paper III' if the cluster is a new one first presented in Paper III, or to 'Paper II' if the cluster was first presented in Paper II and has been confirmed spectroscopically in Paper III.
