ASCA OBSERVATIONS OF THE MICROLENSED BL LAC MS 0205.7+3509
ABSTRACT
The BL Lac source MS~0205.7+3509 is one of a small class of four BL Lac objects that are signficantly decentered with respect to their "host" galaxy, underluminous for a typical BL Lac host, show exces s absorption in soft X-rays and are probably microlensed but show no evidence for multiple images. We propose ASCA observations of the X-ray selected BL Lac MS 0205.7+3509 (Z$>$0.318) in order to (i) determine the main emission processes responsible for its x-ray spectrum, (ii) define its broadband (radio to X-ray) spectrum from which we can estimate its radio-X-ray bolometric luminosity and spectral break frequency and (iii) understand the role played by gravitational microlensing. Simultaneous IR, optical and radio monitoring will be used in the investigation.
