Subject: CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES AND SUPERCLUSTERS
GIANT LUMINOUS ARC STATISTICS USING PRECISE X-RAY DATA OF ALL CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES IN LE FEVRE ET AL. ARC SURVEY SAMPLE
ABSTRACT
Le Fevre et al. first performed systematic arc survey with a X-ray flux limited complete sample and found highly frequent appearance of giant luminous arcs in the survey sample. This result suggests highly centrally concentrated and highly asymmetric matter distribution in high redshift clusters of galaxies. We have been carrying out a project which quantifies asymmetric matter distribution and substructures through intra-cluster gas distribution by ROSAT HRI observations(this will be accomplished during ROSAT AO7) and also quantifies a gravitational potential depth by ASCA temperature measurements for each cluster in the Le Fevre sample. If our proposed observations are put into practice, temperature measurements by ASCA for all clusters in Le Fevre sample will be completed.
