SYSTEMATIC SPECTRAL STUDY OF MASSIVE WOLF-RAYET BINARIES WITH ASCA
ABSTRACT
We propose the systematic spectral study of massive Wolf-Rayet binaries with ASCA. All the proposed targets have been not detected in the hard X-ray band. Then the first goal is to detect the hard X-ray emission. With the spectroscopic capability of ASCA, we will find the emission lines from highly ionized ions, which give a firm evidence for the shock-heated plasma due to the wind-wind collision. We try to determine absorption column, temperature, and luminosity for the hard component. We also check whether the hard component varies or not. With these observational results, we will construct the unified model for the massive W-R binaries. Furthermore, we estimate the abundances by fitting the spectra. We compare them with the WR type (WN and WC) and test the chemical evolution model.
