NEW DISCOVERD ASCA SOURCE WITH 1530-S COHELENT PULSATION

ABSTRACT

We discovered a new varible X-ray source with 1530-s cohelent period in ASCA Galactic Plane Survey. Since the pulsation period of 1530s is between those of typical white dwarfs and typical neutron stars, we cannot determine directly whether it is a white dwarf or a neutron star. If it is a neutron star, it becomes the slowest X-ray pulsar in our galaxy. We tried a spectral analysis, but could not get a statistically sufficient result because the flux is weak and the source position is near the edge of the field of view. However, we found a sign of eccentric structures in the spectrum above 4 keV, which might represent strong iron-line, partial covering absorption, multi-temperature plasma, or cyclotron absorption. Then, we propose a follow-up observation to study this ASCA new source.
