X-RAY OBSERVATIONS OF CYGNUS X-3 DURING A MAJOR RADIO OUTBURST

ABSTRACT

We propose an ASCA observation of Cygnus X-3 during a major radio outburst. Recently,Waltman et al. reported the observation of a quenched radio emission on a time scale of a few days to a few weeks prior to a major flare in Cygnus X-3. If this common feature to previous major outbusts is observed ,we will be able to catch an X-ray emission onset of a radio jet. This will allow us to study relations between X-ray radiation and radio jet ,and photoionized plasma around a jet with the high-quality X-ray spectroscopy of ASCA.

TARGET 1

WE KNOW THE COMMON FEATURES TO PREVIOUS MAJOR OUTBURSTS, THEREFORE CAN OBSERVE X-RAY EMISSION DURING A RADIO OUTBURST WITH ASCA.
