GALACTIC PLANE AND GALACTIC CENTER REGION SURVEY
ABSTRACT
Our knowledge of the Galactic X-ray sources is quite incomplete due to the Galactic absorption (low energy band) and limited spatial resolution (high energy band). Due to the limited information, we are till unable to answer the origin of the Galactic diffuse hot plasma, and characteristics of supernova remnants, X-ray pulsars, and other low luminosity X-ray sources. ASCA Galactic Plane and Galactic Center Region Survey Project that we propose is planned to cover all the Galactic inner disk with successive pointing observations of about 10 ksec exposure in 50' in diameter region each. This project provides us with the first opportunity to remove the galactic absorption and make unbiased sample of many categories of the galactic X-ray sources.
