COMPLETE MAPPING OF THE X-RAY BRIGHT NON-CD CLUSTER ABELL 1060
ABSTRACT
We propose to observe the periphery of the non-cD cluster of galaxies Abell 1060 by ASCA. A1060 is the X-ray brightest non-cD cluster with its hot gas below 4 keV, and is one of the most suitable object to study the metallicity distribution in non-cD clusters. Observation of the outer region of nearby clusters provide us many important informations to the scenario of cluster evolution: we can constrain the origin of metals in the ICM from the relationship between the distribution of metals and galaxies. Several cD clusters, including AWM7 and Centaurus, have been observed to its periphery, while we have so far no accurate information for those of non-cD clusters. This observation will provide us the first chance to discuss the large-scale properties of the ICM of non-cD clusters.
