UNDERSTANDING ARK 564
ABSTRACT
We request a 39 day ASCA observation of Ark 564. The observation should be carried out May 28 - July 5 2000 (inclusive), i.e. simultaneous with an intensive period of optical/UV/RXTE monitoring which is planned as an AGN Watch campaign. Ark 564 is one of only a few NLSy1s bright enough for a study of variations in the Fe Ka line; this, combined with the rapid X-ray variability and simultaneous multi-band coverage make Ark 564 a compelling target for observation during the final operation phase of ASCA.
