ASCA: Frequently Asked Questions for the General Public

1. What does the name ASCA stand for?
It's an acronym for Advanced Satellite for Cosmology and Astrophysics. (More details)
We are in no way connected with The Australian Shepherd Club of America, American Swimming Coaches Association, Arizona Sprint Car Association, the American Safe Climbing Association, and a host of other organizations which share this (unfortunately, rather popular) acronym.

2. When was it launched, and what is the current status?
ASCA was launched by Japan's Institute for Space and Astronautical Sciences on 1993 February 20; it re-entered the atomsphere on 2001 March 2.
