The original data received from ISAS comprise three files:
- the First Reduction File (FRF) which contains the science and
housekeeping data,
- the Attitude File (AF) which contains the pointing direction of
Astro-D, and
- the Orbit File (OF) which describes the location of the satellite.
For the US Astro-DGOF, these files are the primary data. The
FRF is essentially the same as the raw telemetry except that bad and
duplicated telemetry has been removed by ground processing. ISAS
will add a FITS header (contents TBD) to the FRF which will make it
easier for the processing system at GSFC to identify and keep track of
incoming data. The AF and OF are not telemetry files and are
produced as the result of processing housekeeping and radar-ranging
data.
In addition to these files, ISAS will provide:
- a copy of the planned mission time-line, and
- a file summarizing the contents of each batch of FRFs.
