SIS: Capella Ring

Capella Ring

Images of the nearby star Capella obtained by the four ASCA detectors. The Solid-state Imaging Spectrometer (SIS) detectors were operated in four Charge Coupled Device (CCD) mode. In each image from the Gas Imaging Spectrometer (GIS) dectectors, the iron calibration source can be seen at the edge of the field of view.
