The TRANSMAP program transforms galactic or celestial maps to another spherical
system where the source of interest is located close to the equator. The
program may be used to reduce the distortion that occurs at high
latitudes. The transformation is specified by indicating the location of a
reference point which will become the origin in the new system.
The maps are transformed in such a way that a point along the
meridian through the reference point in the old frame, remains on the
meridian through the origin in the new system. The program processes one set of
counts, exposure and intensity maps in FITS format files per run.
