NICER Joint Progam Guide - Cycle 6

NICER Joint Programs

Starting in Cycle 5, NICER users can propose to observe on other NASA facilities in support of their proposed NICER observations. The NICER mission has established joint observing programs with NASA's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR), the Neil Gehrels Swift observatory (Swift), and the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS).

In addition, up to 5% of "open skies" time (200 - 300 hours, depending on the telescope) on the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA), Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), and Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT) facilities is available through the NRAO joint program.

Proposals requesting joint observations must clearly justify the need for NuSTAR/Swift/TESS and NRAO observations to accomplish the science goals of the investigation Please see the NICER Joint Program document for details on joint observations with NuSTAR, Swift or TESS, and please review the Memorandum Of Understanding Between The National Radio Astronomy Observatory And The Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer for details of the joint NRAO program.
