Sagittarius and Ophiuchus Regions
The ROSAT survey image of the Sagittarius and Ophiuchus regions has many
interesting features. Of particular note is Kepler's supernova remnant
(observed by astronomer Kepler in 1604), the moon (appearing as two half
moon because of the apparent lunar motion between two scans), and the
structure in the general diffuse background caused by absorption of
background emission by intervening molecular clouds.
