SYMPOSIUM:      "THE ACTIVE X-RAY SKY.
                 RESULTS FROM BEPPO-SAX AND ROSSI-XTE"


		ACCADEMIA DEI LINCEI - ROMA - 22-24 OCTOBER 1997


1st Circular - 29 April 1997.


1 - The Symposium is intended to review the recent observational evidence in
    X-Ray Astronomy with special emphasis on the results obtained by the 
    space missions Beppo-SAX and Rossi-XTE.
    The aim is to assess, through the joint evaluation by observers and
    theorists, the impact of the new data on our understanding of 
    "The active X-ray sky".


2 -     Symposium General Information

        Title:          "The Active X-Ray Sky:
                        Results from Beppo-SAX and Rossi XTE"

        Place:          Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei:
                        Palazzo Corsini - via Della Lungara - Roma
                        Italy

        Schedule:       October 21 - 1997 (afternoon)
                        Arrival and Registration

                        October 22 - 23 - 24
                        Scientific sessions

                        October 25 (morning)
                        Scientific Committee Meeting

	Session Time:	from 9.00 to 19.00 hrs with Lunch and Coffee break
			interruptions.



  The number of participants is limited to 250, due to the Accademia
  Auditorium capacity. Because of this limitation it is advisable to 
  send us a preliminary registration using the WWW registration form
  (http://www.sdc.asi.it/symposium/registration.html) before the end of
  May 1997.


3 -    Program

Scientific Chapters:

        -       	Galactic Compact Sources

        -       	Galaxies AGN - Clusters

        -               Stellar Coronae, SN remnants	

        -               Gamma-ray bursts, Background. 


4 - Call for Papers.


All together the Symposium will see:


	-		10 Invited Talks of 40 minutes

	-	        30 Contributed talks of 20 minutes 

           (questions/answers included in the time allocated)

	-		3 one hour Poster presentation; 
                        no a priori numerical limit is given on Posters



The Contributed talks and Posters contributions will be selected from a 
Call for Papers. Deadline for abstract submission is 22 August 1997. 
All papers should be submitted electronically using from the symposium
home page on the web.

Invited Talks, Contributions and Poster extended abstracts will be
published in the Symposium Proceedings.
