e-torus model

This is an X-ray spectral model that describes the reprocessing of X-rays in a torus-shaped medium. This e-torus model is based on Ikeda et al. 2009. The intrinsic spectrum of the AGN is described by a power law with an high-energy exponential cut-off. This model was used in Ikeda et al. (2009), Awaki et al. (2009).

There are two table model files available: e-torus_20161121_2500M.fits and e-torus_hc_20161121_2500M.fits These files were updated on 11/28/16 to give the correct result when calculating the model on energies beyond those tabulated in the original files.

A brief explanation of the model and illustrations of its use are contained in torus_model_v02a.pdf.

The table model has five parameters in e-torus_20161121_2500M.fits:

  • nH: Absorbing column, in units of 10^22, with a range of 1 - 1000 and a default value of 100.
  • PhoIn: Power-law index of input spectrum with a range of 1.5 - 2.5 and a default value of 1.9.
  • Open_Ang: Torus opening angle, in degrees, with a range of 10 - 70 and a default value of 30. If this parameter is 0 then a spherical geometry is assumed.
  • Incl_Ang: Inclination angle, in degrees, with a range of 1 - 89 amd a default value of 20.
  • z: Redshift with a default value of 0.

The table model has five parameters in e-torus_hc_20161121_2500M.fits:

  • nH: Absorbing column, in units of 10^22, with a range of 1 - 1000 and a default value of 100.
  • E_Cut: High-energy cut-off, in units of keV, with a range of 20 - 500 and a default value of 360.

These are multiplicative table models and the PhoIn or E_Cut parameters must be linked to those in the cut-off power-law model to which the multiplicative model is applied.
