select chip

Selects events based on chip ID (Chandra and XMM specific).

Syntax:

xsel> select chip <chipspec>

where chipspec is a string of chip specifiers either as single digit numbers (0–9) or as two character names (I0,I1,...). This command extracts events for the relevant chip(s) into a new file and appends the appropriate GTI. If only one chip is selected the GTI for the chip is copied, if not the relevant GTIs are merged. Chip specifiers should be separated by a space or a comma. This command also finds the minimum and maximum sky coordinates for the chip and sets the XYCENTER/XYSIZE appropriately.

Examples:

xsel> select chip "s0 s1 s2 s3"
