XMM-Newton AO-12 closure
========================

The XMM-Newton twelfth Announcement  of Opportunity (AO-12) closed on
the 5th of October 2012.

In total,  475 valid proposals  were submitted, requesting 86.0  Ms of
science time. This Announcement of  Opportunity covers a period of one
year, with 14.5  Ms of observing time available  for distribution. The
over-subscription factor is 5.9.

A  total  of  66  proposals  for  "Large  Programmes" were  received.
Triggered/ToO observations  were requested  in 57 proposals.   For the
joint programmes,  43 proposals were submitted: 15 requested time for
the  XMM-HST programme,  14 for  the  XMM-SWIFT programme, 9 for  the
XMM-Chandra programme, and 8 for the XMM-VLT programme.

SOC received proposals from 364 different principal investigators from
24 countries, mostly  ESA member states, the United  States and Japan.
The number  of countries involved increases to  38 if co-investigators
are taken  into account  as well. Considering  principal investigators
and co-investigators,  about 1500 individual  scientists were involved
in the response to the twelfth Announcement of Opportunity.
