Suzaku News #074: Exploring the X-ray Universe - Final Announcements
EXPLORING THE X-RAY UNIVERSE: SUZAKU AND BEYOND -- FINAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Here are a few final announcements concerning next week's conference.
PROGRAM
=======
A few minor adjustments have been made to the conference program. The
final version is posted on the conference web site.
ACCESS TO SLAC
==============
Participants will need a photo ID to access the SLAC campus. If you are
pre-registered, your name will be on a list at the entrance gate. If
you are not pre-registered, say you are attending the Suzaku Conference.
Parking at SLAC is limited. Participants are advised to carpool if
possible.
SOCIAL EVENTS AND MEALS
=======================
Save your evenings for a bit of socializing at SLAC...
Please join us for the Suzaku 2011 Reception on Tuesday evening and join
your colleagues for the Conference Dinner on Thursday night!
The Suzaku 2011 science conference is hosting a reception on Tuesday, July
19th. An evening of drinks and appetizers will start the conference off on
a festive note. The reception, beginning at 6:30 pm, will be held in the
Panofsky Breezeway.
Our second social event, the Suzaku 2011 buffet dinner, is just two
evenings later, on Thursday, July 21st, and will also be held in the
Panovsky Breezeway. The buffet dinner begins at 6:30 in the evening
with an open bar, a complete dinner will be served, and we will end
with a delicious dessert.
Both events are included in your registration fees--and are a great
opportunity to meet colleagues and enjoy a glass of wine or beer and
a taste of California's distinctive flavors and foods. The menus are
excellent!
We are looking forward to two great evening events and hope to see you all
there. We hope that those of you who are attending the Suzaku Working Group
Meeting, will be able to make the reception on Tuesday evening!
Each morning breakfast buffet will be available starting at 8:00 a.m.
Lunch is also provided. Both are included in the registration fee.
POSTERS
=======
Posters will be displayed in the Redwoods Room, a short walk from the
Panofsky Auditorium. They will be available for viewing all day
Thursday, and Friday until the end of the afternoon break. Poster
presenters are asked to put up their posters on Thursday morning before
the start of the oral session (between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.). Poster
spaces are 4 ft. x 4 ft.
PROCEEDINGS
===========
Presenters will be asked for a pdf version of their talks, to be posted
on the Suzaku web site. Also we have arranged for conference
proceedings to be published electronically by AIP press. The manuscript
submission deadline will be September 30. Details and copyright forms
will be included in your conference packet.
