The PSF of the ROSAT PSPC (alone) can be divided into three components:
The detailed PSF parameters and their associated dependences on energy have been determined for the XMA, PSPC-B, and PSPC-C using four monochromatic energies (0.28, 0.93, 1.49, and 1.70 keV) at the PANTER facility in Garching. Specifically, the components of the PSF due to the intrinsic spatial resolution of the PSPC, and the effects due to the finite penetration of photons into the counter were treated independently. The resultant predicted PSF curves have been compared to a number of PVC and AO-1 datasets in Hasinger et al. [Hasinger et al.1992] (see also Sect. 4.1).
