MEETING: X-ray Timing 2003: Rossi and Beyond
Message forwarded from Phil Kaaret:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to announce a conference devoted to recent results from
the Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer and addressing the need for new
instrumentation for X-ray timing:
"X-Ray Timing 2003: Rossi and Beyond"
CONFERENCE GOALS
------------------------------
* To review recent scientific advancements made using the
Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer
* To articulate the present and future role of X-ray timing in the
study of compact objects including X-ray binaries, isolated
neutron stars, and AGN
* To establish what instrumental advances in X-ray timing are needed to
significantly advance our understanding of compact objects
* To promote the development of new instruments for X-ray timing
TOPICS
------------------------------
Jets from black holes, quasiperiodic oscillations from black holes,
black hole spectral evolution, X-ray transients, millisecond X-ray
pulsars, X-ray bursts, quasiperiodic oscillations from neutron stars,
soft-gamma repeaters and anomalous X-ray pulsars, normal X-ray pulsars,
X-ray timing of cataclysmic variables, X-ray timing and multiwavelength
studies of active galactic nuclei, instrumentation for X-ray timing.
CONTRIBUTIONS
------------------------------
Invited talks will cover the current observational status, recent
theoretical interpretation, and directions for future work for each
topic. Contributed talks will be selected from the abstracts submitted.
Poster contributions will also be accepted.
