The X-ray telescope (XRT) on ROSAT consists of the following
subsystems:
- the X-ray mirror assembly (XMA)
- a magnetic deflector
- two South Atlantic Anomaly detectors (SAADs)
- a focal plane turret containing
- two position-sensitive proportional counters (PSPCs)
and associated filter wheel
- a high-resolution imager (HRI)
A schematic view of the XRT and its various subsystems is shown in
Fig. 2.1.
