Thin foils such as the PSPC entrance window can be UV transmitting despite a lexan coating; the UV transmission is concentrated in a relatively small spectral range around 1700 Å ( 7eV) where the mass absorption coefficient of polypropylene has a local minimum. During the ROSAT calibration phase, the A-type stars Leo and Car were observed for approx. 2000s each and not detected.
